Rain and slips in Laos

Another wet morning without electricity in luang prabang – the photo shows Lola, stray dog and I looking our the door of our guest house. I just want to stress that the wet season is still a great time to come to Laos – the waterfalls and rivers are pumping and the place seems even fresher. It only rains in short bursts and they make a welcome change. There are more slips at this time of the year but it is amazing how quickly the locals clear up the roads – helped by the fact that their definition of what constitutes a passable road is quite different to ours. We were told a couple of days ago that a slip had made the road from here to vang vieng un passable but our bus was only held up by two hours…
