I landed in Bangkok yesterday expecting to see water everywhere in the city. It is amazing to say that the only evidence of the potential flooding that I saw between the airport and koh San was sandbags around some shops. People are waiting to see what impact the now open floodgates will have but for now it is very much business as usual (I woke up at 4 am in my hotel and I could hear that the pubs in the area were going off). Stray departures have only been affected by the fact that we leave Bangkok on a bus rather than the usual train – Laos is unaffected.
It is funny how at home I feel in the chaos of Bangkok after the over organization of Singapore.
